BioBackground:
Penny grew up in Omaha, Nebraska working on the family farm and praying for some miracle to get her the heck out. Four years of high school later and she got that chance, heading out to California in order to pursue an acting career and ending up in an ill-advised relationship. Four years and one TV later, Penny found herself kicked out and starting over as a single girl with a new apartment—and new neighbors.
The new neighbors, Sheldon and Leonard, are physicists at Cal Tech and from the opposite end of the spectrum from shiny, happy Penny. While they have little to no social skills, Penny develops a friendship with them and their colleagues from the college. This friendship results in several rough patches, including an incident where Sheldon and Leonard compulsively clean her apartment and a Halloween party where all the boys dress as DC Comics' The Flash. Still, despite inherent ideological differences, Penny and the boys learn a lot from each other, and become good friends.
Leonard, the most "normal" of the group, develops a crush on Penny that's finally reciprocated toward the end of the season as Penny figures it's about time that she pursue a relationship with someone who respects her as a person and not just a beautiful girl.
Personality:
Penny is bubbly and personable, making a stark contrast to her geeky neighbors. She enjoys typical girl things, like manicures and My Little Pony, but won't turn down a game of Halo after discovering an eerie predisposition to playing well.
While she has some difficulty understanding why Leonard and Sheldon engage in their geeky behaviors, she loves them in spite of it and cares for them—even to the point of nursing Sheldon when he was in bed with a cold or comforting Raj when he was dealing with family problems.
She also displays a wealth of pop culture knowledge and can actually answer more Trivial Pursuit questions than either Sheldon or Leonard, both of whom are woefully out of touch with the world at large.

Blonde, 5'6", green eyes. Usually wears bright colors.
